Keeping in tune with the upcoming Small Business Saturday, we’ve been taking some time to highlight some of the local small businesses in our area. Hopefully we can inspire you to take some time out of your busy shopping weekend to shop small and local! We all know shopping is tiring so you’re going to need time to grab some grub. Stop through The Milwaukee Public Market to eat with some of our favorite local vendors in the city!
St. Paul Fish Company
To start, St. Paul Fish Company is one of the original Public Market residents. Their expansive selection of fish and sea creatures will have you salivating for hours. Plop down at the oyster bar to get your shell fish fix with an ice cold beer! Don’t forget to scoop up on their lobster dinner deal too!
West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe
When it’s lunch time at work, there’s only one spot that will satisfy my mid-afternoon craving. The West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe has the finest meats, cheeses, and deli sandwiches you can find. Take advantage of their daily specials or get crafty and create your own sandwich. If you’re a true wisconsinite you can surely appreciate West Allis Cheese & Sausage.
The one spot open the latest at the Public Market is Thief Wine! Whether you’re looking for a Pinot, Merlot, or a six-pack for the road, Thief has got you covered! Phil Bilodeau and Aimee Murphy moved here from California to launch their business and since have also opened a retail store in Shorewood. While the selection at the store is more expansive, the atmosphere of the bar at the Market is amazing. Stop through for a glass of your desire, or stop by and pick up a bottle on your way home from work!
Mike’s favorite spot at the Market is Kehr’s Candies. He can’t go there without picking something up from the sweets vendors. For over 78 years, Kehr’s has been making sweet treats right here in this fine city. Stop by their Public Market location for a pound of their awesome sour gummi bears, or pick up any of the many chocolate treats!
Lastly, Margarita Paradise is the go-to spot for tacos, burritos, and the ever-popular margarita! Our friends Amil & Dolce Alarcon serve up some of the best mexican grub in the area. They always have an expansive selection of salsas and guacamole available for purchase as well. And it’s no secret that the Jose Cuervo is always on tap!
So when you’re feeling hungry this weekend, stop by The Milwaukee Public Market and show some appreciation for the many local food vendors that we are fortunate enough to have right at our doorstep!
